What’s Happening August 10-14 on Stories from a Distance

Stories from a Distance encourages students to find community through conversation. Students can expect to be welcome into a virtual space (over Zoom) created by and for students looking to invest in meaningful connections within their campus community over the Summer.

This week will only have 2 sessions, and will be our last regular programmed week as we approach August with different activities and programs for you to stay involved!

ResourceXChange: Crafting Your Career Story with
Lisa Lewkowicz

Tuesday, August 11 at 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Hosted by Vatsal, Psalm, & Kaitlyn

In this ResourceXchange we’ll be learning about how to craft your career story! Join the Stories from a Distance team and community partner Lisa Lewkowicz as we share how storytelling and conversation can help craft a career story that makes a difference! Lisa’s reflective questions and knowledge in this area will help guide us in considering our own stories and how they translate in a resume, interview, and beyond! This is a great opportunity to consider these connections in your own journey while also connecting with new individuals in this warm and welcoming virtual community.

Lisa Lewkowicz joins us from KPMG in Vancouver where she is a Campus Program Manager on their Talent Attraction Team. She joined the firm in the Fall of 2019 and alongside managing campus recruitment activities for the firm she recruits for their tax practice and KPMG Law LLP in Vancouver. With over 12 years of experience coaching students and young professionals, Lisa excels as an interview coach, career branding expert and recruitment strategist. She provides practical and candid advice to help students find focus in their job search.

Peer Support: Buzzfeed Quiz Adventures: Building a Self-Care Routine

Thursday, August 13 at 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Hosted by Psalm & Vatsal

In this session grab a snack, find a comfy spot to unwind, and tune in as we all consider building a self-care routine in times where it might be difficult to find structure and times for relaxation. Plus, who doesn’t love Buzfeed quizzes?! Join the Stories from a Distance Team as we consider what self-care looks like to us, tips & tricks that have helped us as a students, and resources that can help ground us and consider next steps as self-care intersects with our busy lives as students.
