ResourceXchange: Stress Busting!

Let’s talk about…stress busters! How do you juggle between courses, responsibilities, and other things in life? Are you curious about how other people manage stress? Do you want to share your favourite tips and tricks on taking control of your mental health when things get overwhelming? The iHub invites to a safe space to hang out with other U of T students and share our favourite stressbusters and the fantastic stories in them!

The U of T’s Innovation Hub is calling all post-graduate students into our themed Virtual Cafe for an hour of connection-building, casual conversation, and discussion on all things grad-student related. The I-Hub’s Virtual Cafes are run by and for students looking to invest in creating a virtual judgement-free and inclusive space for the U of T community to continue to gather, connect, and unwind in. The graduate students from Stories from a Distance is invested in encouraging students to find community through conversation. Bring your own beverage, find a comfortable spot, and join us for an hour of casual conversation, wholesome entertainment, and social connection in our online ‘Cafe’ space.

As we wrap up our time story-sharing as a virtual community, the I-Hub students want to open up our space for healthy dialogue on what community building should look like as we prepare for a post-COVID, virtual semester. Let’s talk about what our needs and desires are going to be as we continue strategizing on how we’re going to continue cultivating community across campus. You can expect anything from a casual virtual hangout, guided discussions, or carefree socializing activities. You’ll be welcomed into a virtual space that is inclusive, empathetic, and empowering. These zoom sessions are safe spaces for U of T community members looking for confidential and non-judgmental peer support. Sessions will be moderated and guided by I-Hub staff, and students trained in active-listening and group facilitation. In all of our sessions, participation is encouraged but never required!

This week, we’re back for our weekly Virtual Game Night’s beside some new friends and co-hosts. This one-hour session will have everyone engaging in some friendly competition and casual conversation. We will be playing virtual renditions of your favourite board games – Scattegories, Jeopardy, Pictionary – and we’re definitely be open to requests, so come one and come all! In all of our sessions, participation is encouraged but never required. We’re excited to see you there!
