Stories from a Distance encourages students to find community through conversation. Students can expect to be welcome into a virtual space (over Zoom) created by and for students looking to invest in meaningful connections within their campus community over the Summer.

Here’s what this coming week will look like:

ResourceXChange: Let’s Talk… Getting Organized!

Monday, September 28 at 6:30 – 7:00 PM, Hosted by Mona

With online classes firing up at full force, there’s no better time than now to get organized. Join the Stories from a Distance community as we open our calendars and to-do lists and discuss all the different ways that U of T students stay on top of their deadlines. Whether you’re an organization expert or overwhelmed by assignments and midterms, everyone is welcome to share and learn some organization tips.

Virtual Fireside Chat: Mindful Doodling

Wednesday, September 30 at 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Hosted by Sanskriti

Calling all doodlers, scribblers and scrabblers! Take a break with the Stories from a Distance community as we come together to make art and decompress. During this 1-hour Zoom call, we will be drawing as a way to breathe, ground ourselves and take a mindfulness moment. We hope this session not only gives you a much-needed break from online classes and scrolling through social media, but also leads to some art you would be proud to hang on your fridge. No doodling experience needed!

FreestyleFriday: Bonding Over Buzzfeed

Friday, October 2 at 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Hosted by Mona

Which type of bagel are you? Join the Stories from a Distance team as we take and bond over the silliest Buzzfeed quizzes. During this 1 hour Zoom call, you will likely learn which Mean Girls character you are and what your choice of cake says about your personality. This student-led session is the perfect opportunity to have fun and take a break from school or work with other U of T community members. All bagel types are welcome!
