The Innovation Hub is Hiring Leaders for Fall-Winter 2024-25

Are you interested in design thinking, qualitative research, leadership, and project management? Do you wish to create change and improve the campus student experience at U of T? The Innovation Hub is hiring leaders to support the growth and development of many campus initiatives and you can play an integral role in them! We are seeking innovative, insightful, determined leaders to join our wonderful team!

Leading a team at the Innovation Hub is also a big commitment – but with it comes a great reward. Our past Team Leads have gone on to have successful careers in a variety of industries. We encourage our space of learning, and we really want you to feel comfortable in a space of failure and iteration. Our work is fast paced and involves managing tight and often competing deadlines and coordinating with various stakeholders and partners. This is an incredible opportunity for you to advance your skillsets, learn through design thinking, and discover something new!

Fostering Connection and Change Through Furniture

When physical spaces are intentionally designed with different layouts and types of furniture, this can foster collaborative environments that meet various needs. In this blog, Jennifer shares her experiences of looking for a study space after graduation and how this exploration helped create positive change in other areas of her life. Team Reflections: International Students: First 48 Hours in Canada

Our Design Research Team for the International Students: First 48 Hours in Canada project reflect on their experience working with eight international students as they travel to Canada to study at U of T to create an impactful documentary and report of findings. The team shares how much empathy they felt for the students hearing their stories throughout the process, and expresses appreciation for Cal Campos, an incredible filmmaker who worked with us over the last year to produce the documentary.

Alternative Reading Week 2024: Integrating Inclusivity in the Workplace

In February 2024, the Innovation Hub provided a series of workshops during Reading Week for students participating in the Alternative Reading Week program through Centre for Community Partnerships. The aim of the workshops were to apply design thinking methods to a “wicked problem”: How can workplaces be more inclusive? Our facilitators, Cheryl, Mike and Lidiia shared the importance of embedding inclusivity and constructive discussion in event organization.
