Creation of Indigenous spaces on campus

In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report, we have been working toward creating more Indigenous spaces on campus.

Renovations are underway to First Nations House and Indigenous Student Services in the North Borden Building. The updates will create more space for programming, more natural lighting and improved accessibility.

Several outdoor spaces have also been created. In August 2021, the University community gathered for the first Tipi Raising in the Earth Sciences courtyard. During Indigenous Education Week, a cultural structure was erected entitled Reclaiming: A Landback Installation.
