Community partner stewardship (4.5)

Over the past year, the Centre for Community Partnerships (CCP) demonstrated its commitment to recognizing the contributions of community partners who provided student education, through strategic outreach efforts, research into opportunities for knowledge and resource sharing, and opportunities for professional development.  The CCP also launched a new community partner newsletter and delivered two professional development events for community partners.

The Pandemic Safety for Community Organizations event (October 2022) drew 60 attendees from community organizations across the Greater Toronto Area. The panel featured four U of T faculty experts from the fields of medicine, epidemiology and engineering, who are important public advocates for health and safety during the pandemic. Naheed Dosani, David Fisman, Tara Moriarty and Jeffrey Siegal responded to questions from non-profit staff about how to ensure the health and safety of their staff teams and community participants from COVID-19.

In February 2023, the Unpacking Ableism 101 workshop engaged 42 participants from local nonprofit organizations. Facilitated by Kate Welsh and Zane Nathaniel from the  Community Resistance Intimacy Project (CRIP Collective),the event provided a useful overview of disability and ableism, and strategies for resisting the ways ableism can appear within community organizations.
