Challenging Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia (3.1)

In partnership with ARCDO, Challenging Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia workshops allow students to develop their understanding of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and how to address and challenge hate. The workshops included A Shape-Shifting Hatred: Understanding and Addressing Anti-Semitism and More Than One Experience: Encountering Islamophobia. These workshops advance Student Life’s goal of active inclusion and belonging, by providing participants with the tools to break down barriers and combat discrimination.

More than 60 students participated in these workshops. In evaluations, students expressed deep appreciation for having the opportunity to explore these issues and were surprised how much they were able to learn in just one session. They also noted that the sessions encouraged them to continue their learning on these issues going forward.

“Thanks so much for hosting this session. As someone who was not raised in North America, the issue of antisemitism is quite new to me and I do not have much knowledge, to be honest. I learned a lot just in one session today and hope to continue learning.”
