Student Experience at the Faculty of Dentistry
The Innovation Hub had partnered with the Faculty of Dentistry to consult on the student experience at the Faculty. The Innovation Hub facilitated feedback sessions with students, staff, and faculty to gain deeper and more nuanced understanding of the current student experience and how it could be strengthened. Based on this consultation, the Innovation Hub generated a vision to guide activities, recommendations and design principles related to the student experience at the Faculty.
How can we strengthen the Dentistry student experience?
To become dentists through practice, we found that students need the courage to face the discomfort of learning. After hearing the shared needs and experiences voiced by students, we explored courage through 5 themes: facing the academic rigour required to feel excellent, making mistakes and learning from failure, asking others for help, moving one's knowledge from theory to application with confidence, and becoming part of the professional dentistry community.
