Call for Participation: International First 48-Hours in Canada Project

We're Looking for International Students willing to Document their arrival in Canada banner

Are you an incoming international student to the University of Toronto?

Will coming to U of T be the first time you have landed in Canada?

Are you interested in sharing your story and experiences with the community?

What is the First-48 Hours in Canada Project?

In collaboration with the Office of the Vice-Provost, International Student Experience, the Innovation Hub seeks to collaborate with 8 international students who are willing to document their experiences when they first arrive in the country in video diaries and journals, and who will participate in a series of interviews about their experiences.

This project will allow the University of Toronto to uncover insights that will better support international students when they first arrive in Canada and in their early days at the university. The project goal is to produce a series of videos and a final report for the U of T community to aid in the design of new ways to support international students at U of T.

What does Participation Involve?

If selected to participate in this project, you would be asked to:

  • Complete 2 interviews, one before you leave your home country and the other after you have arrived in Canada
  • Record video diaries and take video clips during your first 48 hours in Canada and write journal entries about your experiences
  • Participate in two group events with other participants (in September 2023 and January 2024) to socialize and discuss your experiences with fellow participants
