Hey everyone! I'm currently wrapping up my fourth year at the University of Toronto, studying Bioethics and Political Science, and when I'm not deep into my studies or mixing tracks as a DJ and music producer, I love to run. My favorite route is a refreshing 8km stretch from St. Michael's College, through the vibrant streets to the peaceful Harbourfront and back. Here’s why this running routine has become such an essential part of my life:
1. Music Inspiration: Running fuels my creativity, sparking fresh ideas for new music and beats as I move.
2. Staying Fit: It’s a fantastic way to keep fit, integrating cardio that balances out those long hours spent in the studio, performing or in the library.
3. Pure Fun: There’s something genuinely joyful about the simplicity of running, especially when the weather’s just right.
4. City Exploration: Each run is an opportunity to see Toronto from new angles, discovering hidden gems along the way.
5. Coffee Rewards: Post-run, I treat myself to a coffee, making each outing feel like a mini-adventure with a well-earned reward.
6. Relaxation: Running gives me a chance to unwind, letting the stresses of the day melt away with each stride.
7. Social Runs: Sometimes, I run with friends, which turns a workout into a social event and a chance to connect.
8. Sunset Views: There’s nothing quite like watching the sunset over the lake at the Harbourfront, a perfect backdrop to any evening run.
9. Mental Health: For me, beyond the physical benefits, running is incredibly therapeutic, offering clarity and a mental reset.
This running routine offers me so much more than just a way to stay in shape. It’s become a cornerstone of my well-being, combining fitness, fun, friendship, and creativity. Whether you’re a student, a fellow musician, or just someone looking for a new way to experience our city, I hope that sharing my reasons for running inspires you to lace up your sneakers and join me on the path sometime!
