Our leaders drive the mission and vision of the Innovation Hub. Working in a variety of different roles, Innovation Hub leaders are at the forefront of organizing and implementing design research projects, coordinating with stakeholders, supporting team members and representing the work we do within the university at large.
LEADERSHIP ROLES
RESEARCH LEAD
Directly supporting the Manager, Innovation Hub, the Research Lead takes a leadership role in all design research activities and supports strategic and operational planning for the Innovation Hub. The Research Lead supports all design research projects; creating and carrying out training for team members, meeting with project partners, ensuring project milestones are met, and presenting the work to partners and within the broader University of Toronto community. The Research Lead also maintains the Innovation Hub’s design research process documentation, ensuring that all Innovation Hub practices and procedures meet excellent standards.
Hours: 40 hours/week
Directly supporting the Manager, Innovation Hub, the Communications & Operations Lead takes a leadership role in all elements of communications and operational planning and supports strategic and operational planning for the Innovation Hub. The Communications & Operations Lead supports all day-to-day operations, graphic design, audiovisual storytelling, UX/UI website development, and the Innovation Hub blog; creating and carrying out training for team members, coaching Team Leads, meeting with project partners, ensuring project milestones are met, and presenting the work to partners and within the broader University of Toronto community. The Communications & Operations Lead also maintains all Innovation Hub documentation related to operations and communications, ensuring that Innovation Hub procedures and practices are user-friendly, and meet excellent standards.
Hours: 40 hours/week
Directly supporting the Manager, Innovation Projects, the Project Assistant takes an administrative role in all areas of the Innovation Hub. The Project Assistant coordinates Innovation Hub employees' payroll, supports all project management, and communicates proactively about project statuses to ensure project milestones are met. The Project Assistant also maintains and updates all Innovation Hub process documentation, ensuring that all Innovation Hub practices meet excellent standards.
Hours: 30 hours/week
Directly supporting the Innovation Hub Research Lead, the Research Coordinator takes a leadership role in all project-based research and the Innovation Hub research teams. The Research Coordinator also leads a small team of design researchers who work primarily on the Innovation Hub’s quick feedback program. Finally, the Research Coordinator leads the community engagement for the entire Innovation Hub team, ensuring a dynamic and fun workplace culture that celebrates success.
Hours: 30 hours/week
A&S UTQAP RESEARCH LEAD & PROGRAM COORDINATOR
The Research Lead & Program Coordinator for the Faculty of Arts & Science (A&S) U of T Quality Assurance Program (UTQAP) leads an important partnership project between A&S and the Innovation Hub. The UTQAP cyclical review ensures that academic programming at the University meets the highest standards of excellence. The cyclical review, which is overseen at A&S by the Office of the Vice-Provost, Academic Programs, allows for both maintenance and improvement through regular appraisal of undergraduate and graduate programs residing in academic units or those that involve more than one unit.

DESIGN RESEARCH TEAM LEAD
The Design Research Team Lead takes full leadership over one of the Innovation Hub’s design thinking research projects. All design research projects at the Innovation Hub have a goal to improve campus life, particularly for students. The Design Research Team Lead supervises a team of design researchers in all aspects of the project, including data collection, data analysis, report writing, and presentations, using empathy at every stage of the project. The Design Research Team Lead executes the design research project plan and coaches the team toward completion.
Hours: 20 hours/week
GRAPHIC DESIGN TEAM LEAD
Directly supporting the Innovation Hub Communications & Operations Lead, the Graphic Design Team Lead takes a leadership role in all digital communications planning and strategy for Innovation Hub projects. The Graphic Design Team Lead leads a team of Digital Storytellers in all graphic design, website management, and presentation development. The Graphic Design Team Lead maintains the Innovation Hub’s communications documentation, ensuring that all Innovation Hub branding practices and procedures meet excellent standards.

UI/UX TEAM LEAD
The Innovation Hub UI/UX Team Lead takes full leadership over user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) projects at the Innovation Hub. All design thinking projects at the Innovation Hub aim to improve campus life, particularly for students. The UI/UX Team Lead supervises a team of UI/UX Web Designers in all aspects of projects, including sketching, prototyping, visual designs (iconography and photography), written content, accessibility, website implementation, and maintenance at every stage of the project. The UI/UX Team Lead provides guidance and feedback to the team while creating Figma mock-ups, wireframes, storyboards, prototypes, and user flows, writing website content, and designing original iconography and illustrations for each web project.

AUDIOVISUAL STORYTELLING TEAM LEAD
The Audiovisual Storytelling Team Lead supervises a team of Audiovisual Storytelling Assistants in all aspects of Innovation Hub’s design thinking projects aimed at bringing data to life through audiovisual storytelling. Responsibilities of the team include participant recruitment, logistical planning for audiovisual projects such as documentaries, podcasts, and other audiovisual projects, providing videography and recording support, and working collaboratively with other professionals involved in the projects such as videographers and other audiovisual professionals.
Hours: 20 hours/week
