One Love #ColourROMProud

One Love! One Heart! Let's get together and feel all right…what up Bob Marley reference!? What do you get when you combine the magical power of a rainbow with a 100,000 square foot crystal at the Royal Ontario Museum? You get Friday Night Live: Colour ROM Proud, a massive fun party at the museum! The theme as you may have guessed is about celebrating Pride. It's the final Friday Night Live of the season, and it's a goodie! Pride Toronto presented music, dance, food and performances around the museum and guests for the evening got an exclusive preview of the CHIHULY glass exhibition, featuring ground-breaking explorations in colour, light and form by artist David Chihuly.

Toronto DJs Craig Dominic, Cozmic Cat, John Caffery, Kris Steeves and Scooter McCreight spun some AWESOME tunes though-out the evening and they had people dancing in no time! There were also live performances by Forte – Toronto Gay Men’s Chorus, Christian Jeffires and Backburner, ILL NANA/Diverse City Dance Company, NYC’s Tony Banks and some of Toronto’s fiercest queens. They all performed amazingly amongst the dinosaurs and the crowd. It was colourful in every way! The music and dances were definitely entertaining. I must say, of all the Friday Night Live events at the ROM this one was one of the best! So many people gathering together to celebrate LGBTQ pride while boogie-ing through the galleries dancing and enjoying good food, colouring ROM proud!

Another highlight of the evening were the food vendors – the one that stood out from the rest for me was the liquid nitrogen ice cream that is made right before your eyes! Oohh-la-la! If you were at the event last week, did you try one?!

And of course, we can’t forget the artifacts in the museum! One of my favourite galleries at the ROM is the James and Louise Temerty Galleries of the Age of Dinosaurs (Gotta love them dinosaurs!), Sir Christopher Ondaatje South Asian Gallery and the Galleries of Africa: Egypt (who doesn’t like mummies, right? 😀 ) If you were at the event, what did you think of it? What did you enjoy most about the event? Comment below and let me know! Until next time 😀 -- M
