Staying Involved During The Holidays

Winter has kicked in and the holiday season is upon us! First semester sure has gone by quickly; I can’t believe this is my last post! (until the new year, don’t worry). Even though it’s exam season, some of you might be interested in ways you can be involved and help out in the community during the holidays and even throughout the winter season. It’s a time when a lot of different people/organizations could use helping hands, so here is a list of initiatives I’ve compiled that are near/on campus and Toronto-wide. You should all look look into these! (holiday and non-holiday themed) On Campus: Check out your individual college’s holiday donation/drives and initiatives that might be happening! I know a few residence halls in various colleges are collecting toys, toiletries, clothes...etc so keep that in mind! A lot of campus wide holiday drives/donation collections are getting over, but check this out: Donations Packaging Workshop: December 11th (tomorrow!) in the Hart House Sitting Room! Presented by the Hart House Social Justice Committee Around the city: Holiday Heroes Gift-Drive Toronto Edition: Happening on Christmas day (Dec 25th) at Nathan Phillips Square (check out: Facebook.com/Heroesinblack) Holiday Food & Toy Drive: Crunch Fitness College Park is accepting food and toy donations! According to Facebook, you can just drop by and donate City of Toronto- Holiday Toy & Food Drive: Running till December 21, collected in public donation bins at City Hall, Metro Hall and all civic centres. So these are the ones that I managed to round up but I know there is probably more out there! It’s always nice to try and give back during the holiday season in whatever way you can. Spread the word about these events/initiatives. Have a restful and fun winter holiday everyone! 🙂
