One of the best things about having family come from out of town is that you have an extra excuse to go out. My mom and brother are in Toronto for the week. When my mom went off for day trip,…
When The Bells Toll
I knocked the door at the top of the staircase tentatively. The 75+ steps leading up to the Soldiers' Tower Carillon left me breathless, and after travelling up those narrow steps (stay away if you are acrophobic and claustrophobic), I wasn't sure what to expect.
"Come in!" A deep booming voice reverberated through the door. For a moment, I imagined that I was about to step into something out of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I imagined seeing the giant bells looming above my head, and having to step haphazardly between cables and wires that keep the clock running. Oh, and a dark, sombre organ-like instrument taking up a wall. No Quasimodo, of course. I'm a pretty realistic person. So I braced myself, put on my best smile (all the while trying to catch my breath) and walked in...

When my dulcet tones grace the airwaves…
(...As if its 1950 all over again... Ahem. Anyway.) Do any lifeatuoft readers listen to CIUTFM? Did to listen to Beyond The Classroom this week? On Monday, from 11-12? Did you hear me? 😀 Yes? Yes? No? Oh 🙁 Earlier…
A Stumble Down Memory Lane
My unofficial anti-graduation photo courtesy of Cry School Yearbook: I often think of a quote I came across by Pico Iyer in Room Magazine that began with "we travel most when we stumble." The writer expanded on the phrase, saying…
These are the things we’ll miss the most after graduation
Yesterday I received an email from the Office of Convocation. It's almost time. So, with the threat and/or promise of graduation becoming a clearer and more prominent figure on the horizon, I've compiled a list of essential U of T…
1, 2, 3, 4. My four-person seminar class
My favourite class this semester has been the severely underpopulated one. There are four students and one professor, so it's actually a five-person class but four sounds so much more impressive like The Beatles, or ABBA, or ABS 496! And…
Looking back on a great year; for me, at least.
For this week, my final post of the school year, I have decided to reflect upon my short time as a blogger, and some of the posts I have contributed. First off, I want to express how much of a…
Over and Out.
I can't believe we're here already. The end of the term and my last post as an lifeatuoft blogger. I've served my two years, the first as a new blogger and my last as lifeatuoft's senior blogger. I'm sad. I…
Should I Stay or Should I Go? [Part 2: Staying]
To the delight of my friends here, and detriment, I'm sure, of my family at home, I've made the decision to stay in Toronto. To be fair, it had always been in the cards for me to stay here —…
Celebrate Good Times, C’mon
Hey folks; the semester is coming to an end, and if you hadn’t noticed, there is a lot to do on campus to help celebrate another fab year. With that in mind, I have decided to dedicate this week’s post…
