Lucky Libraries: A U of T Library Photo Contest

If there’s two things I like in life, it’s a library and a contest. Lucky for me (let’s hope the luck sticks), the University of Toronto Libraries have combined the two! For the last two weeks, a photo contest has been open for students to capture the beauty of any of U of T’s 44 libraries. Fortunately, I tend to spend a good amount of time in libraries and have quite the University-of-Toronto-Libraries-Stock-Photo collection going on.  I revisited some of my past library visits, took to iPhoto (digital manipulation is allowed – instagram included!) and submitted a few of my favourite photographs. Best part? You can submit as many times as you want!

Here’s my showcase of some of U of T’s finest reading rooms:

Outside the Gerstein Library.

Emmanuel Library - the best place to feel smart.

A fine set of study carrels at the Laidlaw Library.

Patterns & Shapes at the Laidlaw Library.

Curves and Glass Floors at Gerstein

You’ve still got a bit of time to enter your own photographic masterpieces. Don’t worry, I won’t hold it against you if you beat me – just remember me when you’re famous? Here’s the procedure:

How to Enter

  1. Take a photo somewhere inside or outside one of the 44 libraries at UTL.
  2. Create a brief caption telling us where the photo was taken and what you love about the Libraries.
  3. Upload the photo to Twitter with your caption, and hashtag it #loveutl.

Oh ya, and did I mention the prize is an iPad Mini or a Kobo Glo
