Shannon (2010-2011)

After having spent the last year teaching in the UK and travelling throughout Europe, Shannon has not quite quenched her thirst for adventure. A first year M.Ed. student, Shannon is looking for ways to add excitement to her sometimes tiresome student routine of reading, reading, class, and, uh… more reading. From the gym, to the pool, to the courts, to the great outdoors, she plans to explore as many campus physical activities as possible to have fun, get fit, and (fingers crossed) make new friends. This might mean going out of her comfort zone, getting a bit sweaty, and accepting painful awkwardness, but it is all part of her plan to spice up the student experience. Have you tried an activity you loved or loathed? Let her know! She’ll give it a try!

  1. Hi Shannon,

I loved your post about the circuit training in Hart House Athletics. (Yes, I know it’s been 2 years since you wrote it and yes, I know I’m a little late to the party)

I finally figured out what squat thrusts are, thanks to your article, although I did have to read the description twice to understand it. (Insert .gif here) I should also recommend that the dips can be done on the same bench as the bench stands. I find it helps to cluster exercises together to keep track of what’s next in the circuit.

I wish I’d come across your article sooner. But next time I’m in Hart House, I’ll pick up that info pamphlet about circuit training and keep my eye out for the signs around the track telling you how to do the exercises.

    Thanks for making my day,
    Tony
