When was the last time that you read for leisure? When was it last that your reading was not attached to your research or coursework, but simply for your personal enjoyment? While the reading that I do for my master’s program can be stimulating, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable, I must admit that it has been quite some time since I’ve read something simply for myself. In fact, the last time that I read solely for leisure was before I started my master’s program last August.

Now that it is June and the fast pace of the regular school year is slowing down, I have been thinking about which books I plan to occupy myself with during the summer months. I figured that I would share some of the books on my summer reading list with you. I hope that it will either inspire you to carve out some time for your own leisure reading this summer, or encourage you to share the books on your own reading list with me and the rest of the Gradlife community!

Without further ado, here is my list!

The first 3 books on my list are memoirs- one of my all-time favourite book genres! While the first book on the list will be a new read, the two books that follow it are memoirs that I look forward to rereading!

My next two selections are business books that have been on my radar for quite some time, but that I have never gotten around to reading.

The next book is written by a researcher and fellow social worker who I find particularly inspiring -Brene Brown!

The last book on my list is a highly-recommended children’s book! If you are like me and hope to build upon, learn, or practice your French skills, this is a beautiful book to practice your reading!

Now that I have shared some books on my summer reading list, I would love to hear your recommendations! Comment on this blog or any of our social media platforms with the books that you plan to read this summer!

Happy Reading!

Samara
