Often, students get so caught up with studying that they forget about their well-being. I believe that if you are too stressed and anxious you are definitely not going to study well, nor will you be able to do your best on an exam. This is why I decided to share with you how I like to de-stress and relax in the midst of exam season.

Take a Coffe Break

No, I don't mean frantically drink a coffee at 9 pm to help you pull an all-nighter. I am referring to a nice relaxing coffee break at a more reasonable hour! Grab a friend or a light-hearted book and check out one of many cute cafes around campus!

2) Bake!

This is my favorite way to de-stress! Baking is actually therapeutic. Studying makes me super hungry so I like to schedule in some baking breaks in my schedule during exam season. Check out the amazing pie and cinnamon buns my roomie made the other day!

3) Give Yourself a Spa Day

Many people confess that exam season brings out the worst in them; hoodies and sweatpants become a go-to outfit, hair gets a little too messy, and the combination of stress and neglect makes the skin go crazy. Throw yourself a nice relaxing spa day (or hour), perhaps, right after a big exam or after your done writing an essay. Put on a face mask, paint your nails, or take a long relaxing bath!

4) Cook!

Don't neglect your health and well-being during exams! Trust me, without proper nutrition, you will not be able to perform your best on exams anyway. Take some time out of your busy schedule to make a healthy delicious meal. You could even meal prep for the week so you don't have to waste too much time!

5) Attend End of Year Events

It's interesting to me that end of year events for clubs and organizations usually coincide with peak stress season. Perhaps, use that to your advantage by adding it to your schedule so that you have something to look forward. The end of an academic year is not just about studying (believe it or not) -- it's also a time to celebrate the successes of the year, connect with your peers, and to wind down after a year of hard work!

6) Go For A Walk

Sometimes getting a breath of fresh air is all you really need. Sitting down all day re-writing notes is not healthy and can burn you out really quickly. Go for a quick stroll around your neighborhood. Or, if you are like me, grab a friend (especially one with a dog), and go for a long scenic walk through High Park!

Exam season can be a stressful time.
