Don\u2019t let it keep you from getting active! Here are some ideas for fitness activities to do as the temperature drops in Toronto.\r\n<ol>\r\n\t<li>Try an indoor workout!<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nIf you\u2019d rather stay in the warmth, check out <a href=\"https:\/\/greatist.com\/fitness\/50-bodyweight-exercises-you-can-do-anywhere\">this list<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.self.com\/gallery\/bodyweight-exercises-you-can-do-at-home\">bodyweight exercises<\/a> for workouts that you can do at home! Other ideas include going for a walk on the Hart House track or taking the stairs more than usual. And, of course, there\u2019s always the gym. When it\u2019s cold enough to make me not want to leave my bed, I find the external motivation of <a href=\"http:\/\/harthouse.ca\/fitness\/\">Hart House<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/kpe.utoronto.ca\/sports-and-rec\">Athletic Centre<\/a> classes to be extra helpful.\r\n<ol start=\"2\">\r\n\t<li>Go skating!<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nThere\u2019s no shortage of opportunities to go ice skating at U of T and throughout Toronto. The rink at Varsity Centre is open all season for <a href=\"https:\/\/kpe.utoronto.ca\/sport-recreation\/sport-and-rec-programs-z\/skating-figure-skating\/drop-skating-figure-skating\">drop-in<\/a> casual skating and figure skating. Skate rentals cost $3 for students, but if you come by the November 24 <a href=\"https:\/\/kpe.utoronto.ca\/fri-11242017-1900\/skate-n-create\">Skate and Create<\/a> event, skate rentals will be free for that night.\r\n\r\nYou can also come by the Varsity Centre for <a href=\"https:\/\/kpe.utoronto.ca\/sport-recreation\/sport-and-rec-programs-z\/hockey\/drop-hockey-stick-n-puck\">drop-in hockey<\/a>. If you\u2019re new to the sport, try a practice sessions (called stick n\u2019puck) if just want to learn the basics of controlling a stick and puck.\r\n\r\nElsewhere in Toronto, the ice rink at Nathan Phillips Square is set to open on November 25<sup>th<\/sup>, during the Cavalcade of Lights. Looking forward to more once it's snowy!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<ol start=\"3\">\r\n\t<li>Just go out and play!<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nThere may be no better time than winter for outdoor shenanigans. Some of my best U of T memories consist of impromptu snowball fights with friends \u2013 not only are they super fun, but you\u2019re bound to burn some calories and maybe even get some cardio exercise. Why not challenge a group of friends to a snow fort contest at King\u2019s College Circle?\r\n\r\nI\u2019m also quite partial to running in the winter (at least up until my lungs start to burn from the cold). Especially when it snows, I love running through the winter scenery. I like to stay warm with a thermal headband that covers my ears but also keeps my hair out of my face. Insulated leggings are also a must. Last but not least, I like to stuff my phone inside a mitten so I can pull it out when I want to track my progress.
