Nuit Blanche is one of my absolute favourites events of the year, and when I heard that this year U of T would be one of the exhibit zones, I knew I couldn't miss it.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06467.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25695\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06474-copy-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"photo of UTS window with strings lit up by lights \" width=\"264\" height=\"180\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25694\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06467-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"photo of different photos of a school projected on school windows along with a fibre installation in front of the projections \" width=\"263\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\nMy first stop was UTS (University of Toronto Schools) where <strong>Remembering the Future<\/strong> was hosted. The Bata Shoe Museum featured\u00a0<strong>EMPREINTES<\/strong><em> (above) <\/em>and <strong>Shoes That Line The Lane<\/strong><em> (below).\u00a0<\/em><strong>EMPREINTES<\/strong> was comprised of carbon casts of shoes, and carried messages by school children regarding their carbon footprint.\u00a0<strong>Shoes That Line The Lane<\/strong> was one of my favourite pieces of the night, explored our strange custom of hanging shoes off power lines, as well as the memories and\u00a0significance\u00a0we associate with\u00a0items of clothing.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06497.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25697 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06497-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"photo of dozens of pairs of shoes hanging off of wires outside the shoe museum\" width=\"584\" height=\"876\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06497-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06497-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\nFrom there I headed to OISE, which hosted\u00a0<strong>Time of the Empress<\/strong><em>, <\/em>a piece that explored the cycle of growth and decay with images of modern buidings\u00a0being created and then destroyed.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06516.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25698 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06516-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"projections of buildings collapsing on the oise building \" width=\"584\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06516-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06516-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06516-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nFrom OISE I headed down the car free street to the ROM. Muscle Memory was a fluid dance and drama performance piece, which explored how memories can affect our physical bodies, and how our bodies carry the weight of these memories.\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-25703\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06621-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"DSC06621\" width=\"584\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06621-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06621-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06621-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/>\r\n\r\nMy favourite part of this piece were\u00a0the sticky notes that covered the walls. Each note had a memory written on it by a member of the audience.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06632.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-25705\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06632-1024x719.jpg\" alt=\"DSC06632\" width=\"584\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06632-1024x719.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06632-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/DSC06632-427x300.jpg 427w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\nMy final destination was the UC quad, where my absolute favourite piece of the night was.<em>\u00a0<\/em><strong>I've Got Sunshine on a Cloudy Day<\/strong> was an illuminated text piece, which filled the quad with sunlight in the middle of the night.
