{"id":25617,"date":"2015-10-02T10:43:55","date_gmt":"2015-10-02T14:43:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/?p=25617"},"modified":"2015-10-11T00:12:08","modified_gmt":"2015-10-11T04:12:08","slug":"once-upon-a-u-of-t-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/2015\/10\/02\/once-upon-a-u-of-t-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Once Upon A U of T II"},"content":{"rendered":"Well, friends,\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">I would just like to take this moment to congratulate everyone on what was hopefully a successful and memorable first month of school.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you\u2019re like me, you\u2019re still checking your schedule to remember what classes you have or somehow already wildly behind on your readings (I will catch up soon, I promise). <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But if you\u2019ve been keeping up with lecture notes like a responsible and functioning member of this academic institution, I salute you. You are an inspiration to us all. <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since school started, I\u2019ve been frequenting many of the same spaces. While this gets monotonous, I personally employ the use of an internal Disney soundtrack in my head - a strategy bound to make any mundane task seem fun. So on a related note, here\u2019s a second instalment of Once Upon a U of T, in hopes that when you enter the same places, you will remember these photos\u00a0and your day will be a little happier-ever-after.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25622 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/jpg\" alt=\"A photo of the path along the Philosophers Walk. The scenery certainly helps to facilitate this and the walk is often a peaceful and pleasant start to my morning. It really is the central hub of our school. And much like Pride Rock, Robarts also shares the same visual appeal of a giant slab of concrete. Nonetheless, there\u2019s nothing like surrounding yourself with 14 floors of hard-working students to get you motivated to sit down and write that paper you\u2019ve been putting off. Plus it's\u00a0open 24\/7 during exam time! <\/span><\/p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Ratatouille-in-the-Green-Beat.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25624 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Ratatouille-in-the-Green-Beat-e1443718418514.jpg\" alt=\"A photo of the food made in the Green Beat. The food always looks delicious\u2026 but I wouldn\u2019t really know because I\u2019m one of those people who obnoxiously monopolize the microwaves that are also present to warm up my own food. But I\u2019ve made a mental note to try the curried lentils sometime within the next month! The <a href=\"http:\/\/ueat.utoronto.ca\/locations-green-beet\/\" target=\"_blank\">Green Beet<\/a> is also a space where you can freely talk without having to leave the library\u2026 so you don\u2019t feel guilty about leaving the library.<\/span>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Alice-in-CSC.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25619\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Alice-in-CSC.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3264\" height=\"2448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Alice-in-CSC.jpg 3264w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Alice-in-CSC-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Alice-in-CSC-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Alice-in-CSC-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 3264px) 100vw, 3264px\" \/><\/a>Occasionally,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">I head over to the <strong>UC Union Building<\/strong>, located beside the Commuter Student Centre, which organizes a (FREE) tea and cookies event every Monday-Thursday at 2:30, making this its own kind of Wonderland. The comfy couches and laidback atmosphere of the building are always a nice treat and escape from studying.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Maleficent.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25627\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Maleficent.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2448\" height=\"3264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Maleficent.jpg 2448w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Maleficent-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/lifeatuoft\/files\/2015\/10\/Maleficent-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2448px) 100vw, 2448px\" \/><\/a><span class=\"s1\">The thought\u00a0of a Disney villain in <strong>Hart House<\/strong> is not far off because that place\u00a0is so confusing that it can be frightening trying to navigate it yourself. But fear not; this massive building houses a lot of cool student resources, including <a href=\"http:\/\/harthouse.ca\/learn-discover\/creative-classes\/\" target=\"_blank\">photography classes<\/a>, cozy <a href=\"http:\/\/harthouse.ca\/rooms-spaces\/\" target=\"_blank\">rooms<\/a> for hanging out, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sammysstudentexchange.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sammy\u2019s Student Exchange<\/a>.
