Looking forward to working with all of you! \ud83d\ude42\r\n\r\nIf you're like me, you like food. If you're also like me, you also enjoy when things are free. So imagine my excitement when I got a\u00a0Facebook\u00a0event invite that entailed that there would be both of those things. I squeed like Honey Boo Boo on gogo juice.\r\n\r\n\"\"<\/a>\r\n\r\nYes, this past Friday, the MSA<\/a>, Power 2 Change<\/a>, the UTSU<\/a> and other groups<\/a> (about 12) held a free barbeque on the lawn of the UTSU building.\u00a0So as soon as the clock struck two, I was out on Hart House field ready to get my grub on. Why so early? For good reason, as the hour passed by, the line for the food grew increasingly long.\u00a0A great man once said, \u201cWhen you get free food and you don\u2019t have to wait a long time for it, you\u2019re a boss.\u201d \u00a0Ergo, I\u2019m a boss.\r\n\r\nBut if you think I only like food and free things, you would be wrong. I\u2019m not that shallow. \u00a0I also like playing N64 games at the Varsity<\/a>, pictures of cats wearing funny hats and discussing the plot lines of North Korean<\/a> romantic films amongst friends.\u00a0Indeed, I also like interacting with my fellow students and this barbeque gave me the opportunity.\u00a0 You meet old friends, make new friends and increasingly grow to view your fellow students as people with smiles on their faces and not heartless droids (sorry, these aren\u2019t the droids you\u2019re looking for).\u00a0 So, this was a triple F event.\u00a0 FREE. FOOD. FRIENDS.\u00a0 Huzzah!\r\n\r\nYou\u2019ll find that there a lot of triple F events on campus and you just have to know about them. Stay informed my friends.\u00a0 Read the Varsity, listen to Beyond the Classroom on CIUT<\/a>, make sure you follow U of T groups on Facebook and Twitter and be on some clubs' listservs.\u00a0The events will start pouring in.\r\n\r\nNow, you must be asking, Abdullah, how can I get into such triple F events? Well, my friends fret not, for these events are not restricted for Mitt Romney and the famous.\u00a0They are for all students!\u00a0 Do I have to invest a lot of time? \u00a0No! Have an hour or two between class? Go to an event. They are great destressors and you don\u2019t have to really stress over the time.\r\n\r\nSo next time you get a Facebook event invite to an event on campus and stop and think before you robotically click decline (especially if there is free food); you may just have a good time.\r\n\r\n- Abdullah","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
