Make the most of your money with student discounts

Money is tight for so many people these days, especially young students. To help take the pinch out of your spending, we've put together this discount guide that'll help you save money on food, entertainment and more. All of the discounts listed below can be found around U of T's St. George campus or not far from, and, best of all, all you need is your TCard and a little planning to reap these sweet deals.

Food and shopping

Bulk Barn,  503 Bloor St W
On Wednesdays, seniors and students are eligible for a 15% discount on their regular-priced goods. This store carries a variety of products beyond the standard bulk foods, including natural soaps and supplements. You can even pair this discount with a coupon. Make sure to bring your TCard to redeem your savings!

Shoppers Drug Mart, 236 Bloor St W
On Thursday only, present your TCard to 15% off your bill, on regular-priced products. Late-night Shoppers run hit different, especially with a discount.

Metro, 425 Bloor St W
Students can get 15% off their groceries on Wednesdays and Thursdays when they show their student ID. Save even more money by checking out their flyer for specials.

Maisie’s Independent City Market, 55 Bloor St W
If you spend $50, students can get a 10% discount when they show their school ID. Stock up on big-ticket items or treat yourself to their hot table foods. This deal is only available on Tuesdays so make sure to mark your calendar.

Insomnia, 563 Bloor St W
This Annex restaurant has a delicious brunch and dinner menu. I highly recommend trying their signature breakfast potatoes, especially if you're a sauce person. Get 20% off your meal when you show your student ID, except on weekends and holidays.

Entertainment

Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), 100 Queens Park
The good news is: Students get discounted tickets when they show their student ID. The better news is: post-secondary students can visit the ROM for free every Tuesday. Their dinosaur exhibit never gets old IMO.

Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), 317 Dundas St W
The AGO is the perfect spot to spend a rainy day and their cafe is pretty serene. Anyone under 25 can visit the AGO for free. If you're 18 to 25, you will have to show your ID and download an AGO annual pass.

Ripley’s Aquarium, 288 Bremner Blvd

Hands down, one of the most magical and mesmerizing sites in the city. Students who buy their tickets in person and show their valid student ID can purchase discounted tickets, at around $30.

Spotify Premium, www.spotify.com/ca-en/student/
Why pay more when you can pay less? If you're a Spotify Premium user, make sure you're taking advantage of the student rate. After you validate that you're a student online, the deal is good for up to 4 years. Rock on.
