At last the long wait has come to an end and your little bundle of joy has arrived into the world. You may be thinking – now what? As a new parent it’s normal to feel lost and uneasy when it comes to caring for your newborn child. You likely have many questions running through your head like, “How can I help my baby sleep through the night?” and “When should I start feeding my baby solids?” At the FCO library we are pleased to offer many new outstanding titles, such as The Baby Owner’s Manual by Louis Borgenicht and Joe Borgenicht and The Pediatrician’s Guide to Feeding Babies & Toddlers by Anthony F. Porto and Dina M. DiMaggio, which are sure to help you answer any and all of your parenting questions.
Our first feature title, The Baby Owner’s Manual, is a compact yet extensive guide on infant care, which aims to provide answers to hundreds of questions commonly asked by new parents. The book has a humorous take on infant care, as it reads like an instruction manual and presents the baby as a product model. This humorous view coupled with numerous simple diagrams and step-by-step instruction pages make this guide an enjoyable read for both Moms and Dads. Topics covered by the manual include how to hold and handle the baby, how to know your newborn is feeding enough, the basics of breastfeeding, how to ensure your baby is getting enough sleep, bathing your baby from head to toe, dealing with common health problems, and much, much more!
Our other new exciting title, The Pediatrician’s Guide to Feeding Babies and Toddlers, is the ultimate go-to guide for virtually anything related to feeding. The book presents information in an easy to follow question and answer format, allowing parents to find the answers they need quickly. The guide outlines the most up-to-date nutritional recommendations for babies and toddlers of different ages and offers advice on the process of starting solids. In addition to this, the guide also covers common medical concerns related to feeding such as allergic reactions and gastroesophageal reflux. Finally, this guide has amazing recipes for delicious meals and snacks to feed your little one!
