Now that the winter term is coming to a close, it\u2019s time to consider some exciting opportunities at the Innovation Hub for the summer 2019 term. The Innovation Hub offering a wide range of work-study positions open to all students who meet the eligibility requirements. These positions offer opportunities to work with various areas at the University of Toronto in team-oriented environments that are supported by innovative, design-thinking practices.<\/p>\n

Job Descriptions<\/h1>\n

The Design Research Assistant (CLN #140317 \u2013 4 vacancies) <\/strong>is an active member of the research team that carries out the design thinking process for an Innovation Hub project (to be confirmed). \u00a0Using an ethnographic and empathy-based research approach, they will oversee all data collection and analysis, write reports summarizing the data and making recommendations, and prototype potential solutions.\u00a0 They will work with volunteers who support the project.<\/p>\n

The Design Research Team Lead (CLN #140319 \u2013 4 vacancies) <\/strong>acts as the team lead for the research and design thinking process with a focus on one particular project (to be determined). Innovation Hub research happens in collaboration with campus partners who are seeking to better support students in a particular area. Using an ethnographic and empathy-based research approach, they will oversee all data collection and analysis, write reports summarizing the data and making recommendations, and prototype potential solutions. They will lead a team of volunteers who support the project.<\/p>\n

The Data Analysis Assistant (CLN #140321 \u2013 4 vacancies)<\/strong>\u00a0works closely with the Innovation Hub Research Teams to support our research process and conduct analyses of the ethnographic research data that outlines complex problems, tensions and challenges faced by students and those who support them.\u00a0This may include transcribing and coding qualitative data, using Dedoose software to organize data and working as a member of the team to prepare reports about the data for various stakeholders.<\/p>\n

The Writer (CLN #140322 \u2013 1 vacancy)<\/strong>\u00a0The Innovation Hub Writer dedicates time to composing and editing written communications pieces for the Innovation Hub.\u00a0 This may include reports about data collected, presentation development, writing for the blog and website and other written compositions.<\/p>\n

The Design Research Assistant \u2013 Transforming the Instructional Landscape (CLN # 140314 \u2013 4 vacancies)<\/strong> is an active member of the research team that carries out the design thinking process for the Transforming the Instructional Landscape project – an initiative to re-design classroom spaces on campus.\u00a0Using an ethnographic and empathy-based research approach, they will oversee all data collection and analysis, write reports summarizing the data and making recommendations, and prototype potential solutions. They will work with volunteers who support the project.<\/p>\n

The Design Research Team Lead: Student Life Project (CLN #140586 \u2013 1 vacancy)<\/strong>\u00a0will lead a team of student researchers that uses design thinking to add student input for the Division of Student Life as they envision their strategic planning process.\u00a0The Team Lead will work directly with the Project Manager and other key staff within the Division of Student Life to identify and design a process to engage students as they look to develop a strategic plan for the division.\u00a0Using an ethnographic and design-based research approach, they will oversee all data collection and analysis, write reports summarizing the data and making recommendations. The Team Lead may work with volunteers who support the project.<\/p>\n
