{"id":136,"date":"2016-06-30T08:02:59","date_gmt":"2016-06-30T12:02:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/innovationhub\/?p=136"},"modified":"2024-06-21T10:14:59","modified_gmt":"2024-06-21T14:14:59","slug":"day-of-learning-june-16-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.studentlife.utoronto.ca\/innovationhub\/day-of-learning-june-16-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Day of Learning &#8211; June 16, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On June 16th we continued our learning with a focus on learning how innovative methodologies from a wide variety of industries might be applied to the student experience at U of T. \u00a0Speakers included many of our own faculty\/staff from some of the most innovative areas of U of T and colleagues from the community who are doing some great work in this space. \u00a0You can check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/0B5nweyp0nBiLeFgxMUpkMEtWaWs?resourcekey=0-OfNVOKmgUPRjrZ_l1kf2mw&amp;usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Drive<\/a> folder for more details about the Day of Learning and a collection of some of the presentations. \u00a0We wrapped up the day with a very human-centred debrief time on the Cumberland House Lawn.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Throughout the day, we collected some\u00a0<em>blue sky<\/em>\u00a0ideas for students &#8211; here&#8217;s some highlights to inspire you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take time to rediscover our passions for work<\/li>\n<li>Have designated napping\/resting quiet rooms for tired students<\/li>\n<li>Fewer surveys, more talking to students<\/li>\n<li>Open Doors U of T<\/li>\n<li>Breakfast parties<\/li>\n<li>To have a space where therapy animals are for students to go and decrease stress<\/li>\n<li>We have a culture of Mentorship<\/li>\n<li>Five sense of transitions and five domains of innovation<\/li>\n<li>Every U of T student participates in an experiential, intercultural learning opportunity<\/li>\n<li>Common reading program<\/li>\n<li>Encourage creativity in everything<\/li>\n<li>Financial needs of students being adequately met<\/li>\n<li>Get involved.
