Innovation Hub is Hiring Summer 2023 Work Study

The sunshine is beaming at the Innovation Hub and we are so excited to kick off our Summer 2023 Work Study. We have some amazing opportunities and projects for students to apply and learn skills and gain experiences for their future. The deadline to apply for positions is April 23rd, 2023, at 11:59pm. Job postings are now live on CLNx.

  • Start-End Date of Positions: May 12th, 2023 – August 14th, 2023 
  • Average of 6-8 hours/week to a total of 100 hours  
  • Pay is $15.90/hour

Qualitative Data Archivist – CLNx Job ID: 217846 [4 Positions]

The Qualitative Data Archivist works in a team led by the Qualitative Data Archivist Team Lead to support data entry and qualitative coding for all Innovation Hub projects. Working with teams of Design Researchers, the Qualitative Data Archivist is embedded within individual design research projects during the data analysis phase of projects. The Qualitative Data Archivist supports the transcription, de-identification, and anonymization of data coding in a qualitative research software program (software used: Dedoose) and assists in the data analysis process. They also support the Qualitative Data Archivist Team Lead in the management of the existing Innovation Hub database, ensuring that new data is coded appropriately and making existing data available to team members on request. 

Digital Storyteller (Graphic Design) – CLNx Job ID: 217849 [4 Positions]

The Innovation Hub Digital Storyteller creates all the digital communications content for the Innovation Hub. This includes graphic design and video for the website, reports, presentations, and other materials. Working as a team, each Digital Storyteller may have different strengths or areas of expertise in content design. Digital Storytellers work as a team under the direction of the Digital Communications Coordinator. Digital Storytellers bring to life content produced within project teams with visual imagery, models and infographics. This role involves creating professional reports and presentations of design research data, blog posts, website content, and more. The role may also entail special projects, such as website design and development, or developing creative materials outside of the scope of design research projects. We also welcome applicants with a background in photography and videography. 

Photographer – CLNx Job ID: 217844 [1 Position]

The Innovation Hub Photographer captures the events, initiatives, and activities at the Innovation Hub. This includes taking photos of events, headshots of Innovation Hub team members, capturing campus life through the eyes of the Innovation Hub, and maintaining the Innovation Hub photo repository. Photographers bring the Innovation Hub’s work to life within the UofT community. The Photographer may undertake special photography projects such as photo essays, photo shoots, videography, and more. The role also involves developing creative materials to support design research projects. 

Design Researcher – Commuter Student Spaces – CLNx Job ID: 217862 [4 Positions]

The Design Researcher works with a team that conducts a design thinking project for the Innovation Hub with the goal of improving the student experience in a specific area. Every project looks different but uses design thinking to provide partners with compelling insights that reframe problems innovatively and inspire action. The Spaces & Experiences Portfolio at the University of Toronto oversees several buildings across the St. George Campus where they wish to provide commuter students with places to feel a sense of home on campus. The Innovation Hub will explore the needs of commuter students, particularly students from equity-deserving populations, including students who identify as black, Indigenous, and students with disabilities. The findings of the project will inform Spaces & Experiences to make design decisions for future spaces and modifications to existing spaces to better support commuter students. 

Design Researcher & Community Animator – CLNx Job ID: 217852 [4 Positions]

The Design Researcher Community Animator works with a team that conducts design thinking projects for the Innovation Hub with the goal of improving the student experience in a specific area through quick student consultations. The Design Researcher & Community Animator team consists of a dynamic, creative, and passionate team of students who also ‘bring life’ to The Innovation Hub maker space at 230 College Street. The team supports the creation of vibrant, inclusive, and equitable spaces for all students at the Innovation Hub. 

Design Researcher – CLNx Job ID: 217856 [4 Positions]
