The University of Toronto demonstrated its commitment to the success of its international student community through the impactful International Student Experience Portfolios. These portfolios, spanning Inclusion & Diversity Programs, Global Careers & Alumni Programs, Intercultural & Global Programs, International Student Development Programs, and Orientation & Community Programs, hosted 464 events serving 11,671 students.
Orientation & Community Programs reimagined orientation programming for international students with Emerge: An Orientation for Globally Minded Students and provides continued opportunities to grow community. A participant in the Language Exchange said, “This program gave me the opportunity to connect with other students who share a similar passion for learning languages and practice my language learning with the help of native speakers. I have noticed a significant improvement in my language level and would recommend this program to any student interested in both learning new languages and exploring other cultures. Looking forward to returning next term!”
International Student Development Programs provided holistic support, addressing wellness, academic culture and social aspects through an EDI lens.
Inclusion & Diversity Programs ensured equitable resource access and deepened understanding of diversity at U of T, while also bridging potential learning gaps between international students and their peers.
Global Careers & Alumni Programs guided international students in post-academic transitions, connecting them with global career opportunities.
Participation in Intercultural & Global Programs, open to all students, enriched the university community and allowed students to build intercultural fluency. A student who participated in the Intercultural Learning Program said, “This is really an impressive and interesting way to mingle with people with different cultures and get to know each other. This program provided me with a great opportunity to explore and expose myself to diverse cultures and appreciate different cultures.”
