Informed by recommendations from the Student Mental Health Task Force, the relocation and renovation of the Health & Wellness Centre in the Koffler Student Services Centre began with a carefully orchestrated sequence of events.
For the health and safety of staff and students during construction, Academic Success, Communications, Career Exploration & Education, Housing, Information Technology, the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, Student Crisis and Student Progress & Support, Student Experience, Student Life Programs & Services, Student Success, and TCard relocated to 800 Bay Street on September 29, 2022.
TCard reimagined their services during their busiest season at the start of the academic year and established a TCard pick up event at the Exam Centre for a four-week period, distributing more than 8,000 TCards at this location.
In November, Health & Wellness moved to their temporary location at 700 Bay Street, which involved the transfer of a complete health-care center, including reception, physicians, nurses, mental health counselors and health care administrators.
To communicate these significant moves effectively, Student Life Communications used website updates, booths around the St. George campus and signage to minimize potential disruptions and support wayfinding.
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer worked with affected units and two sub-committees to identify a floor plan and workflow to ensure a seamless continuation of services for students at 800 Bay.
Student Success created an inviting reception experience at 800 Bay to assist with wayfinding. Health and Wellness was supported by a specialist who contributed to a seamless move to 700 Bay.
Student Life IT played a pivotal role in these moves, working with the move planning committees and preparing the new spaces with new computer networks and equipment for more than 150 staff members.
In January 2023, Student Life Programs & Services hosted a successful open house at the new space. Staff, students and faculty were invited to explore, with more than 100 people touring the temporary location.
