Health & Wellness provides University of Toronto staff, faculty and students free access to online Identify, Assist, Refer training which guides them to be more alert to students experiencing a mental health concern, assisting them with the concern and referring them to appropriate campus or community resources. Through the SPA process, Health & Wellness analyzed the uptake and effectiveness of the training among university faculty and staff to gain a fuller understanding of its benefits to both groups. The analysis informed processes to improve questionnaire data and identified audiences to prioritize for ongoing outreach.
Through the SPA process, staff identified gaps in the training evaluation data. Staff identified technical issues that were interfering with the collection of survey data and also found that participants had challenges in completing the survey. As a result, staff are actively working with Information Technology colleagues to conduct a full review of the questionnaire and address the technical issues. Staff are also redesigning the pre- and post-training questionnaires to ensure participants complete the surveys and the evaluation of their responses provide a more granular picture of the training’s impact on participants’ knowledge.
The analysis also showed faculty were the least represented group among participants. Health & Wellness has increased its advertisement of the training to faculties and departments as part of ongoing direct engagement to increase uptake of the training module.
