This talk, facilitated by EJ Kwandibens, featured discussions on Indigenous Clan systems and their relation to 2SLGBTQ+ identities. Kwandibens related this to his own experiences as a gay Indigenous man, and participants explored recognition of 2SLGBTQ+ peoples and how they will always be a part of the Indigenous structure, history and narrative from which we operate. Kwandibens shared his own experiences with barriers, stereotypes and systemic exclusion, and offered strategies for moving toward a kinder, more encouraging and more inclusive way. This workshop focused on identity and fostered belonging for a vulnerable group within a vulnerable group.
