In an effort to provide more culturally adaptive counselling for students, Health and Wellness has established evidence-based, skills-building group therapies for anxiety and low or depressed mood.
These groups are specifically designed with BIPOC students in mind, but are open to all students. Two of the facilitators of these groups identify as BIPOC, so students can find commonalities in their experiences with both peers and facilitators in the group. The facilitators also use trauma-informed counselling related to various identities. Overall, Health and Wellness is hoping to enhance access for students who might not otherwise access traditional counselling services.
