Health & Wellness renovation and relocation coming soon!
In keeping with the recommendations of the Student Mental Health Task Force and the commitment of the President and Provost to increase and improve spaces dedicated to student wellbeing, the Health & Wellness Centre in the Koffler Student Services Centre at 214 College St. will be undergoing a major renovation and modernization to better serve students, starting in fall of 2022. The final space will bring all Health & Wellness services together on one floor, with spaces tailored to meet the varied needs of students seeking services and the staff there to support them — and improved accessibility for everyone.
The renovation, which involves significantly increasing the space available to serve students, adding levels and ramps, revising entryways and access (including an elevator), and updating spaces to meet specific service needs is expected to take about two and a half years.
To facilitate the renovations, Health & Wellness will be relocated to a temporary facility at 700 Bay Street (Bay and Gerrard). This site was chosen based on best fit under competing constraints such as leasing availability, proximity to the St. George campus, and suitability for delivering clinical services.
Along with accessibility, privacy, state-of-the-art facilities, a clean and bright venue and ample space for meetings of different kinds, the Bay St. location offers additional benefits, including a pharmacy in the building, easy access by TTC and bike share, and nearby parking.
Updates on the relocation and the renovation will be ongoing. U of T is committed to supporting the wellbeing of students, and this renovation represents one of several major initiatives in response to Task Force findings.
