Join the Redefining Traditional Team & the Family Care Office at the University of Toronto for a virtual KidsConnect session!
Registration is open to student parents & their children at all institutions!

- Who: student parents & their children, with activities led by Redefining Traditional and the Family Care Office!
Often times, student parents hold the guilt of being in school while also having family responsibilities. When needing to focus on school or attend class, we not only wonder what it is we’re missing out on, but how our children might feel about our absence. At Redefining Traditional and the Family Care Office, we empathize with these experiences. This is why we’re doing a KidsConnect Session – a safe and inclusive virtual space to connect, chat, share, and bring in all voices as we redefine traditional. The KidsConnect Sessions will serve two purposes:
- Provide a place to ask children what it is they think about their parents/caregivers being students, and
- To curate a community of connection between children who share the commonality of their parents being students.
The Redefining Traditional Team at the University of Toronto, in partnership with the Family Care Office, invite children of student parents & their parents to connect, share experiences, and continue to build important conversations about student parents and their families’ experiences! Expect great conversations, games, and more to enjoy on this Thursday evening!
To register for this event:
Anyone interested needs to register through EventBrite. Register by February 21st, 2021 to secure your spot!
- Provide registration details including student parent(s) name (even if they aren’t attending), the child(ren) attending (with name and age). It’s recommended to register with a university email, if possible.
- Confirmation at the student parent (even if they aren’t in attendance) has joined our Student Parents in Post-Secondary Group. The name should match the registration: https://www.facebook.com/groups/redefiningtraditional/
- We’ll follow up with a waiver to sign & return by February 24th
Suggested age range for children: Ages 10-17 – but all children & youth of student parents are welcome to attend! Registration is open to student parents & their children at all institutions!
