Honestly, first-year is a weird transition time. I feel like I just got a grip on high school, and I’m being thrown into a new race again. I’m not sure if my friends will stick around. I’m not sure if I’ll meet anyone new that I’ll really connect with. I don’t have a four-year plan, or even a full one-year plan. I don’t know what’s next. (Funny – because that’s exactly how I feel as I’m graduating university, 5 years later!)
Questions For You
Did you pass MAT137? (Yes – and I made a survival guide for you!)
Did you get a Computer Science specialist degree? (Even better for us – Computer Science and Cognitive Science double major!)
Did you find an internship? (Yes, a few - though it wasn’t easy! FreshBooks, Wealthsimple, Microsoft...)
Okay, lean in a bit for this one... Did you date the boy who lives two floors above you in residence? (Uh, obviously!)
Living My Dream!
Wow. You’re living my dream! I'm so glad that things work out somehow.
Oh, and this blog! I remember watching a creator on the U of T Student Life page and wishing I could have that job. (Hehe, this is our 4th year on the team!)
Speaking of, are you still taking photos and making videos for fun? I hope we find a way to keep our creative hobbies alive in computer science... (Such a valid concern, someone should write a TEDx talk about that!)
Geez, there’s probably so much more you’ve experienced that I can’t even imagine yet. I guess that’s life – chasing a goal until you get it and then choosing a new target. The fun is in the chase. So long as I’m chasing something that excites me and sparks curiosity, I think I’ll be okay. So, what are we chasing next? (In classic computer science fashion, I’ll leave that as an exercise for the reader. 😉)
(Thanks for a great 5 years, U of T.)
Signing off,
Anisha Latchman
