Family Drop-In Fitness Programs at UofT 2016/17 Year

Did you know that the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education offers a ton of great programs for the whole family? Below is a quick rundown of the available programs and their associated costs to keep you and your family moving and smiling. Please note: A guardian must accompany and participate with all children attending drop-in programs.

1. Fun Swim:Visit the Athletic Centre between Sept 12th – Dec 4th for family swim at the Varsity Pool and Teach pool on:

  • Mondays and Fridays from 1:30 – 2:55 pm
  • Wednesdays from 6:30 – 6:55 pm
  • And Sundays from 12:10 –2:55 pm

Please note schedule is subject to change. For up to date information, check www.dropinrecreation.utoronto.ca under “Schedules.” Don’t forget that Parents and Guardians are responsible for the children in their care while at the pool and must supervise them at all times! 2. Family Skate: Bring your skates and head to the Varsity Arena (at the Varsity Centre) for Family Skate on Sundays from 5:15-7:00 pm until March 29th!

  • CSA Approved helmets are mandatory for children and strongly recommended for beginners! A parent/guardian must be on the ice (wearing skates) with children during Family Skate
  • Members can rent adult skates for $3 and non-members for $5; if you’ve purchased a Family Pass, adult skate rentals are free

3. Family Squash and Table Tennis: Squash and Table Tennis courts can be booked for 40 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:20-5:00pm at the Athletic Centre. To reserve your court, simply call 416-978-3436 ext. 0. Children must wear goggles and be accompanied by an adult at all times. A maximum of 2 people per court for squash and 4 people for table tennis is permitted. BYOR! (Bring your own racquet).

So, how much will it cost me? It depends on who will be attending…

  • If you’re a UofT student and you’re bringing your children to any of the Family Drop-In Programs listed above, you won’t have to pay a cent! Registered students and their children can use the facilities free of charge (maximum of 3 children per supervising adult).
  • If you’re a UofT student bringing your children with your partner who is NOT a UofT student, it will cost $14.69 for a sponsored guest pass for the second adult.
  • If you’re a UofT student who is busy writing papers, your partner can bring your childrento any of the above events by purchasing a Family Pass for $20.34. Because the Family Pass allows access for up to 2 adults and 3 children, your partner can also bring a friend and their kids along for the fun!

Want to try out the gym but need childcare? On September 17th and 24th and October 1st and 15th student parents can workout at the Goldring Center for High Performance Sport while their little ones are cared for FREE of charge by Camp U of T staff!

MOVEU Parent Power Days

Dates: September 17th, 24th and October 1st, 15th from 10:45- 1:15 pm

Location: Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport

Break a sweat and meet other student parents, all while receiving FREE childcare for kids ages 4-12! Try out a fitness class, the cardio machines, weight rooms, and more. Registration for children is required- call the main office at 416 978-3436. Your TCard is required.

Want to help your family de-stress? On October 22nd and 29th and November 5th and 12th, bring your family to the Goldring Center for High Performance Sport for a FREE one-hour yoga session!

Find Your Balance Family Yoga Workshops

Dates: October 22nd, 29th from 11:10- 12 pm

Location: Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport

You’ll get to try out partner work, interactive games, and breathing and relaxation techniques at these yoga workshops! Registration is required- call the main office at 416- 978-3436. The cost is $20/family.
