Sending your kid to camp can be stressful for every parent, but especially if you’re an LGBTQ parent or a parent of an LGBTQ child who is worried that your child will not feel accepted. Luckily our campus offers Camp U of T which has Positive Space Camps for children with diverse gender identities or expressions and where children from LGBTQ families are always welcome.
If you have an older child, you may want to consider the Leadership for LGBTQ Youth Camp for teenagers who have completed grades 7-10. This week-long program will discuss equity and inclusion and relate them to leadership within sports and recreation. The best news is this camp has 4 FREE spots available for this summer. If you are interested in one of the free camp spots for your child, email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Leadership for LGBTQ Youth” and provide the following information:
- Why would they like to come to this camp?
- A brief description on why they need financial assistance to attend the camp
Camp U of T will choose who receives the spots based on the information provided and they will be given on a first come first serve basis. Email soon before they fill up!
Additional Positive Space Camp programming includes:
- Children ages 4-5 are welcome to the Mini-Sport Camp where children are introduced to different types of sports in a non-competitive environment.
- MultiSport Camp is offered to kids ages 6-12. This camp will help appreciate physical fitness by participating in a wide variety of sports.
