Hello, everyone! My name is Louis and I will be blogging for you for the next while.
I just started here at the Family Care Office, and already I’ve read about work-life balance, stress, sleep, resilience, flexible work arrangements, and returning to work after family care leave. The amount of information has been huge, which makes me realize how much there is to left to learn. Fortunately, the Family Care Office has fantastic resources about all of these topics, and so many more. There are shelves of books and stacks of binders full of written information, which is to say nothing of the vast online resources, including the newsletter. And that’s just the written stuff – there are also workshops, webinars, and tons of other resources.
This is all pretty new to me, so I’m really excited about the chance to learn as much as I can. I’ve been working my way through a stack of really interesting documents about work-life balance, and I’ll be attending some of the workshops in the coming months. I’ll also be interviewing and profiling some really terrific people. As a blogger, I hope to share what I learn with you. And of course, I would love it if you share some of what you know with me.
One of my first projects is writing about instructors (professors and lecturers) who have done an exceptional job accommodating students with family needs. If you have had an instructor who really helped you to balance your academic and family lives, please let me know.
That’s all for now – I have a lot more to read. I look forward to writing for you all from now on!
