A huge amount of my childhood was spent trying to create something out of nothing. Like most kids, I turned cardboard boxes into spaceships and cans and string into telephones. After doing some research, I’ve come to the realization that my DIY approach to toys and entertainment have come a long way and is now more environmentally focused. Upcycling is the term used to describe the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value. I’m glad to hear that this environmentally friendly focus on arts + crafts for kids is making a huge comeback. I recently read an exciting story about a creative 9 year old who used recycled foil to create can coolers and holders. Check out the full story here.
