Storytelling & Media Assistant (CLNx ID: 262112)
About the Role
The Storytelling & Media Assistant supports Innovation Hub senior leaders and external contractors such as videographers and media professionals with audiovisual storytelling projects. This role involves assisting with all aspects of bringing Innovation Hub stories to life through podcasts, videography, photography, and other media formats. Responsibilities include participant recruitment, logistical planning for audiovisual projects, providing recording and production support, and working collaboratively with professionals involved in the projects. Depending on experience and interest, the Storytelling & Media Assistant may have the opportunity to conceptualize and lead their own storytelling project over the work-study term.
Job duties include:
- Assist senior leaders and external contractors with audiovisual storytelling projects such as podcasts, documentaries, photo essays, and other media formats
- Support participant recruitment and coordination for storytelling projects
- Provide logistical planning support for audiovisual productions
- Assist with videography, photography, audio recording, and/or editing as needed
- Support project timelines and manage administrative tasks related to audiovisual productions
- Collaborate with the Graphic Designer & Communications Assistant and other team members
- Opportunity to conceptualize and lead a storytelling project based on experience and interest
Qualifications:
- Strong storytelling skills in written, visual, and/or audio communications
- Experience with at least one of the following: podcast production, videography, photography, video editing, or audio production
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work with diverse teams and integrate diverse perspectives
- Desire to enhance the student experience at U of T
- Responsible and reliable
- Portfolio submission is required for applying to this role
Assets
- Experience with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.)
- Experience with audio editing software (Audacity, Adobe Audition, GarageBand, etc.)
- Storyboarding or pre-production planning experience
- Access to recording or photography equipment
Job Details
- Contract Length: May 2026 to August 2026
- Hours: 6-8 hours per week, in-person
- Wage: $17.60/hour
