About the Role

The Curriculum Development Assistant works with the Design Thinking Coordinator to develop experiential learning programs, design thinking training curricula, and workshop content. This role supports both internal training for Innovation Hub team members and external programming for campus partners and the broader U of T student community. The Curriculum Development Assistant helps transform design thinking principles into engaging learning experiences that empower students to develop workplace skills, explore their strengths, and design meaningful futures. This role is ideal for students interested in pedagogy, instructional design, experiential learning, or curriculum development who want hands-on experience creating educational programs.

Job duties include:  

  • Research and adapt design thinking activities and exercises for different audiences and learning contexts 
  • Draft lesson plans, facilitation guides, and learning materials for workshops and training programs 
  • Create participant handouts, worksheets, reflection prompts, and other curriculum resources 
  • Support the development of a "design your life" workshop series focused on helping students explore career pathways and design meaningful futures 
  • Test and pilot new workshop activities, gathering participant feedback to iterate and improve curriculum 
  • Document and organize curriculum resources in a shared library for use across the Innovation Hub 
  • Support logistics for training programs including scheduling, participant communications, and materials preparation 
  • Collaborate with the Design Thinking Coordinator to develop internal training content for Innovation Hub orientation, skill-building workshops, and professional development opportunities 

Qualifications:  

  • Interest in pedagogy, experiential learning, instructional design, or curriculum development 
  • Exceptional written communication skills to create clear, accessible, and engaging instructional materials 
  • Ability to think from the learner's perspective and design activities that meet diverse learning needs 
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple curriculum projects with competing deadlines 
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to integrate diverse perspectives into curriculum design 
  • Creativity and innovative thinking to translate abstract design thinking concepts into hands-on learning experiences 
  • Desire to enhance the student experience at U of T 
  • Reliability and accountability 

Assets

  • Background or coursework in education, learning sciences, instructional design, or curriculum studies 
  • Experience facilitating workshops, teaching, or leading group learning activities 
  • Knowledge of design thinking, human-centered design, or experiential learning approaches 
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles or pedagogical frameworks 
  • Experience creating educational materials, lesson plans, or training resources

Job Details

  • Contract Length: May 2026 to August 2026
  • Hours: 6-8 hours per week, in-person 
  • Wage: $17.60/hour
